Overview

The Sony HXR-NX80 NXCAM Camcorder is an ultra-light video camera with high-speed autofocus and an advanced fast hybrid AF system that is designed to deliver sharp quality images with complete creative control. This camcorder can capture rich 4K HDR videos via it’s 1″ Exmor RS CMOS sensor with 14.2MP. A 12x Zeiss optical zoom, an OLED viewfinder, and a 3.5″ touchscreen LCD monitor are also available on this camera. Recording 4K in XAVC S, this camcorder includes S-Log3/S-Gamut3 functions for additional image control as well as built-in 2.4 GHz for multiple streaming options via RTMP/RTMPS protocols.

Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) enables you to future-proof your output by smoothly integrating your recordings into an HDR workflow without the need for color grading during post-production. Capture images with high-quality contrast and resolution using the 12x optical Zeiss zoom, and 18x 4K digital zoom (24x in HD). An ND filter is also integrated for greater exposure and depth-of-field control.

This camera also supports Sony’s Slow & Quick Motion for shooting HD video at variable frame rates that include 120 fps. With two SD memory card slots, you can have your footage recorded on both SD cards simultaneously or in relay mode to create a backup. Incorporated into the camera’s body are such audio features as two 3-pin XLR audio inputs that support line, mic, and mic +48V (phantom power) for external microphones. It also has an in-built microphone that can be used when recording.

For live streaming, Sony HXR-NX80 can seamlessly integrate with the separately available Sony’s MCX-500 live switcher.

Fast Hybrid AF

HXR-NX80 has a Fast Hybrid AF that works by using high-density placement of autofocus points coupled with a newly developed AF algorithm to offer highly accurate focusing and tracking. This is most useful for individual operators use.

Live Streaming

This camera supports and includes RTMP/RTMPS live streaming protocols and as an upgrade (free) if your camera does not have them. Via Ethernet or Wi-Fi, you can stream directly from camera with optional converters such as the Sony VMC-UAM2 or CBK-NA1. No computer is required for streaming.
