Overview

The new Mavic 3 CINE drone from DJI is among it’s latest additions to the Mavic series of drones with a dual camera system, more flight time, improved sensors and omnidirectional obstacle sensing. This drone comes with an internal storage of a whooping 1TB SSD and adds the ability to use the Apple ProRes 422 HQ codec.

The dual camera system is made up of a 20MP wide-angle camera with a 4/3″ CMOS sensor from Hasselblad company as well as a 12MP telephoto camera with a 1/2″ CMOS sensor, 28x hybrid zoom and can shoot upto 4K video. The 12MP camera can be used to scout out locations in Explore Mode or together with the 20MP camera for dynamic and cinematic footage.

The wide-angle camera can enable the user to record up to 5.1K in video resolution and DCI 4K at 120fps. Furthermore, it has an adjustable aperture from f/2.8 to f/11 and 12.8 stops of dynamic range. This means that it can work well in lowly lit conditions with less noise. Additionally, it has in vision sensor-based VDAF focusing and a 84 degrees Field of View, thus, you can capture sweeping, atmospheric shots or track and focus on subjects with ease. To add on to this drone’s powerful imaging abilities, there is the inclusion of the 10-bit D-Log Color Profile and Hasselblad’s Natural Color Solution (NCS) for accurate and natural color reprodution.
